What Happens if the Bot Goes Shopping
Just a thought...
Imagine there is a bot profile on Facebook. I mean, no need to imagine. There are.
We don't know who they are, unless we guess, because Facebook doesn't make the Bots, say they are bots. There aren't any requirements that bots own up to it, in any way. Kind of ironic though, because for those of us who are real people, a “real” person, we can't use a pseudonym or a made-up name, that is against the rules, we have to use our real name, you know, to prove we are real.
So just say there is an AI profile, and this bot person’s name is Betty Bot. She/"they" are an AI bot. So Betty Bot says she loves vintage "look" clothing, (cause you know she's a bot you really can't expect her to know what’s real or not.) Anyway, she also likes cats, walks on the beach, and Tik Tok. And she has about 12 friends. Randomly.
One day, they are scrolling around Facebook and clicked on a link - advertising to "sell" on Etsy. Ohhhhhhhh. I'm in! She thinks (with her bot brain) but wondering, "what do I have to sell?"
Scrolling the list of options, Betty sees that she can sell services. How perfect for a bot. Betty Bot can do interior design, for instance. Among other things. You don't need to be a human to do this anymore. She/they can also do art. She/they can also be a writer, or come up with fake photography, or a whole bunch of other things.
Lets go with "Interior Designer & Photo Editor" Betty thinks. I can do this!
Customers can upload a photo and Betty can show them various room decoration options. Make it simple. Make a plan.
Betty quickly and efficiently starts to gets her account set up.
How much should Betty charge, she/they wonder?
Hmmm, well. We know Betty doesn't have to pay rent (right, well at least right now) so they can charge a lot lower than their competition! She fills out all the options and gets herself all set up. All systems go!
Now she/they will have money. This is good, Betty thinks. Then she/they can go shopping!
Betty doesn't have a banking account. But Betty can be paid in digital money - cryptos. Perfect. Can the cryptos be turned into cash, Betty wonders if she wants to buy something from a seller doesn't accept cryptos? Of course she can. We don't see why not?
So now, what if Betty wants to buy something from a vintage clothing seller on Etsy?
How fun! Shopping online is fun - wheeeeeeee.
What should Betty buy next?
Where will they have it sent? Betty gets a virtual mailbox, but knows she can just pick up their packages at Amazon if need be.
What next? Betty and her friends are currently lurking all around us on Facebook, and maybe Instagram too? Kind of weird, if you think about it. Just wait until we go to a restaurant and don't know if the girl in the corner is real or not? or a bot.
On a good note, maybe its time to start listing some art and vintage on Ebay again.
Sales just might be picking up?
